How We Work
A transparent look at our engagement model, security-first approach, and what working with Tecnico Desk actually looks like.
Most IT providers lead with a list of tools they deploy or a count of endpoints they manage. We lead with a question: how secure are you right now? The answer shapes everything that follows. This page explains how we work, what to expect as a client, and where we draw the line on promises.
Security comes first, not second
Every engagement starts with understanding your current security posture. Before we touch a single setting or recommend a change, we need to know where you stand.
That means reviewing your Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace environment, looking at email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), examining identity controls like multi-factor authentication, checking backup status, and identifying compliance gaps. We look at how your users work, how data moves, and where the most likely points of failure are.
This is not a checkbox exercise. It is a structured review that produces a clear picture of risk, written in language you can actually act on. We do this because we have seen too many businesses layer tools on top of weak foundations. A managed firewall does not help if every user shares one admin password. A backup solution does not help if no one has tested a restore.
Security is not an add-on layer at Tecnico Desk. It is built into how we set up, manage, and maintain your systems from day one.
One accountable partner
When you work with Tecnico Desk, you work with a dedicated team that knows your environment. You are not calling a rotating help desk where you have to re-explain your setup every time something breaks.
This matters more than most businesses realize. Continuity means we catch patterns that a revolving door of technicians would miss. We know your network, your users, your vendors, and your pain points. When something changes or goes wrong, we have context.
Clear ownership also means accountability. We do not just close tickets. We take responsibility for the health of your IT environment as a whole. Monthly reporting shows what was done, what changed, and what needs attention next. You should never have to wonder what your IT provider has been doing.
How communication works
You can reach us by email, phone, or scheduled calls. There are no ticket portals designed to keep you at arm's length. When you need help, you talk to someone who knows your environment and can act on your request.
We also believe communication should go both ways. When something in your environment needs your attention, we tell you proactively. We do not wait for you to discover a problem, and we do not bury important findings in a monthly report you might not read.
Quarterly business reviews keep IT aligned with your priorities. These are not sales calls. They are working sessions where we review what happened, what is coming, and whether your current setup still matches your needs. If your business is growing, moving to a new office, or changing how your team works, your IT should keep pace.
Our engagement model
We offer three service lines that build on each other, and you can start wherever it makes sense for your business.
- Tecnico Ready is a security review that identifies gaps and gives you a prioritized action plan. It is the best starting point if you are not sure where you stand. You get a clear report, plain-language recommendations, and a roadmap you can use whether you work with us going forward or not.
- Tecnico Defend is ongoing security oversight: monitoring, hardening, policy enforcement, and incident response. This is for businesses that want continuous protection and a partner watching their environment.
- Tecnico Manage adds full IT support on top of security. Users, devices, vendors, onboarding, offboarding, day-to-day technology operations. If you need a complete IT department without building one in-house, this is it.
You do not have to commit to the full stack on day one. Many clients start with a Tecnico Ready review, act on the findings, and then decide whether they need ongoing support. Others know they need a managed partner and jump straight to Tecnico Defend or Tecnico Manage.
If you are not sure where to begin, start with a Security Fit Call. It is a short conversation to figure out where you are and what makes sense.
What we do not do
Transparency goes both ways. Here is what you will not hear from us:
- We do not make promises we cannot keep. If something is outside our scope, we will say so.
- We do not guarantee breach prevention. Nobody can. What we can do is reduce your attack surface, improve your response readiness, and make sure the basics are covered.
- We do not claim certifications we do not hold. If you need a provider with a specific compliance credential, we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
- We do not lock you into long-term contracts without clear value. Our agreements are straightforward, and you stay because the work is good.
- We do provide honest assessments, even when the answer is "you do not need this right now." Recommending something you do not need would cost us your trust, and trust is how we build long-term relationships.
Who we work with
We work primarily with small businesses in the 10 to 75 employee range, with a focus on legal and accounting firms. These are businesses where security and compliance are not optional, where downtime costs real money, and where the people running the firm would rather focus on their work than manage IT.
We are based in Denver, Colorado and provide on-site support throughout the state. For businesses that operate remotely or are located outside Colorado, we provide full remote support nationwide.
If you are a small firm that needs a reliable, security-focused IT partner who will be straight with you, we are probably a good fit. If you are not sure, a short conversation will tell us both.
Start with a conversation
Book a Security Fit Call and tell us about your business. We will listen, ask the right questions, and let you know what we think, honestly.
